RGUKT Wins an Excellence Award at the 13th World Education Summit

Awards for exemplary work in Higher Education by providing high-standard education to the rural youth through Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development Programs

Dr. A. Ashok, Vice Chancellor of the University, received the Excellence Award for exemplary work in Higher Education by providing high-standard education to the rural youth through Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development Programs.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, was established to provide quality higher education to the talented rural youth of the state of Telangana. Established in 2008 by the then united Government of Andhra Pradesh and later was adopted by the Government of Telangana through a special act of legislation.

With a unique six-year integrated program that admits students in the PUC and graduates them after their B.Tech, the University is blessed with a huge campus, ICT enabled class rooms and high quality laboratories that ensure that the students have access to standards of education that is otherwise inaccessible to them and is on par with the best in the country.

RGUKT, Basar understands that the quality technical education of students it gets would not be honed to required standards unless there is a strong Academia – Industry interaction. With the help of its dedicated and well qualified faculty, ably guided by a dynamic and forward – looking leadership, the University has today overcome several hurdles to make rapid progress in the forging Academia – Industry interactions.

While several top companies like TCS, Wipro, SAP, ADP, Infosys, Capgemini, L&T, Bosch etc. regularly visit the campus to conduct placement drives, the students of RGUKT, Basar also find opportunities with leading industry and research institutions to do their internships.

The University has now gone a step ahead and is building Innovation Centres within its campus. RGUKT, Basar has been identified as one of the Universities where the Government of Telangana has initiating an Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development (IIED) Program. In a landmark agreement between TITA (Telangana IT Association) and RGUKT, Basar, an MoU was signed to establish the TIIC (Telangana Innovation and Incubation Centre) in the campus of the University. TITA is now developing TIIC into a world-class Industry Incubation Centre on par with international standards. TIIC already has a Japanese Company “SafeTraceHub” operating in its premises and will soon be seeing more companies from around the world signing MoUs to set up Innovation labs and set up Incubation Centres at TIIC.

The University has also recently obtained funds from the District administration of Nirmal District to develop prototypes for farming equipment that will help the farmers to save on time and effort while growing their crop. More such initiatives are in the pipeline.

The efforts of the University in attempting to enhance technical education standards for the rural youth through Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial development programs, was recently recognised at a national conference. Dr. A. Ashok, Vice Chancellor of the University, received the Excellence Award for exemplary work in Higher Education by providing high-standard education to the rural youth through Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development Programs. The Award was presented to the Vice Chancellor at the 13th World Education Summit Awards ceremony at Mumbai on December 8th, 2018.

This award is another recognition to the unrelenting efforts of RGUKT, Basar to stay focused on its mission and vision and continue to strive and contribute to the uplift of education to the talented rural youth of the state of Telangana.
