The Department of Mathematics strives to be recognized for excellence among academic institutions in India and abroad. The Department wishes to focus on providing a comprehensive curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The department has at present 19 energetic and dedicated faculty members in many diverse areas of mathematics, and it also boasts of hosting visits of a good number of distinguished mathematicians every year. The departmental faculty is supporting the students for preparing for various Competitive exams at different levels like GATE,GRE,CAT.

• To transform young people to competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge
• To produce graduate students with strong foundation to join research or to serve in industry
• To cultivate a fine mathematical taste, nurture mathematical interests, motivate research in mathematical sciences.
• To cater to the development of the nation, particularly Telangana region, through research, training activities.

Administrative Activities
The faculty of the department has contributed significantly in institute administration by taking up some of the key responsibilities/positions at the institute level and by active participation.

Teaching
The department actively participates in teaching of undergraduate core courses & Mathematics. Currently the department offers two compulsory core courses (compulsory for all undergraduate students of the B.Tech programme) and thirteen Mathematics courses for undergraduate students of the institute. Due to the vast heterogeneity in intellectual levels of students registered in these courses, teaching these courses is considered to be a big challenge.
