Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar was established to provide quality higher education to the talented rural youth of Telangana. Established in 2008 by the then United Government of Andhra Pradesh and later adopted by the Government of Telangana through a special act of legislation.
With a unique six-year integrated programme that admits students after PUC and graduates them after B.Tech, the University is blessed with a huge campus, ICT-enabled classrooms and high-quality laboratories.
RGUKT, Basar understands that the quality technical education of its students would not be honed to required standards unless there is a strong Academia–Industry interaction. With the help of dedicated and well-qualified faculty, ably guided by a dynamic and forward-looking leadership, the University has overcome several hurdles to forge strong Academia–Industry interactions.
While several top companies like TCS, Wipro, SAP, ADP, Infosys, Capgemini, L&T, Bosch etc. regularly visit the campus to conduct placement drives, students also find opportunities with leading industry and research institutions for their internships.
The University has now gone a step ahead by building Innovation Centres within its campus. RGUKT, Basar has been identified as one of the Universities where the Government of Telangana is initiating an Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development (IIED) Programme. In a landmark agreement between TITA (Telangana IT Association) and RGUKT, Basar, an MoU was signed to establish the TIIC (Telangana Innovation and Incubation Centre) in the campus of the University.
The University has also obtained funds from the District Administration of Nirmal District to develop prototypes for farming equipment that will help farmers save time and effort while growing their crop.
The efforts of the University in enhancing technical education standards for the rural youth through Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial Development Programmes were recognised at a national conference. Dr. A. Ashok, Vice Chancellor of the University, received the Excellence Award for exemplary work in Higher Education at the 13th World Education Summit Awards ceremony at Mumbai on December 8th, 2018.
This award is another recognition to the unrelenting efforts of RGUKT, Basar to stay focused on its mission and vision and continue to strive for the uplift of education for the talented rural youth of the state of Telangana.
