I, Dr. Katakam Mahesh, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at RGUKT Basar, Telangana, with a strong commitment to Teaching, Research, Student development, and Institutional advancement. I hold a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and an M.S. (by Research) from IIT Madras. Over the years, I have contributed to the university not only through academics and research but also through student mentoring, innovation, industry interaction, and institutional coordination. As a Faculty Advisor for national-level student competitions, I have guided RGUKT students in SAE-MBAJA, AeroTHON and Go-Kart Design Challenges, supporting them in vehicle design, fabrication, teamwork, and participation at national platforms. I have also helped secure ₹10.1 lakh in external sponsorships for student vehicle projects, enabling students to gain valuable hands-on engineering experience and represent RGUKT Basar at national competitions. As a HoD and University-level administrator, I have contributed to establishing department laboratories, the first departmental library, industry/institutional MoUs, placement opportunities, and student-focused programmes. I have also coordinated entrepreneurship programmes, STC/FDPs, workshops, and other academic activities that strengthened the academic ecosystem of RGUKT Basar. My efforts are driven by the belief that faculty contribution extends beyond the classroom. Through mentoring, coordination, research, and institutional responsibilities, I strive to create opportunities for students, enhance their professional exposure, and contribute to bringing greater recognition and visibility to RGUKT Basar.
